In addition to promoting aging related research the American Federation for Aging Research aims to help professionals share knowledge and exchange ideas and attract additional physicians to specialize in geriatric medicine.
Aging research programs include:
- Nathan Shock Centers of Excellence Basic Biology of Aging - administers small start-ups locally.
- The John A. Hartford Foundation Centers of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine and Training address the shortage of geriatrics faculty at medical schools across the country.
- Aging Research Grants.
- Aging Related Education such as videos, webinars, newsletters and speakers on a range of aging related topics such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Elder Abuse, Longevity, Biology of Aging and more.
