Program Description


"The PAWS/LA PACE Program exists to assist disenfranchised seniors enrich their quality of life by providing assistance with the care of their companion animal. The positive correlation between seniors with animals and improved emotional outlook and health stability has been documented through numerous scientific studies."

The "PAWS LA - Preserving Animal Companionship for Elderly" Program is a great pets for elderly program that assists seniors with the higher day-to-day costs of keeping a pet. The high cost of caring for a pet is usually the reason many seniors are not be able to continue having a pet.

Some of the free pet services offered to qualified seniors include:

- Partly free (subsidized) veterinary pet care
- Spay/neuter
- Free pet food & supplies
- Grooming assistance
- Temporary foster care
- Dog walking
- Litter box maintenance
- Animal transport


The aim of PAWS/LA is to preserve the bond between people and their pets. PAWS/LA provides services to assist low-income seniors and people disabled by a life-threatening illness keep and care for their pets. The organization also manages PETCO PLACE a shelter in Hollywood, California for the homeless with pets. Homeless individuals can access emergency shelter and support services and receive help without having to part with their pet.
