"CULTURE DEMENTIA UK"

WHATCulture Dementia UK supports those with dementia and their carers among the African/Caribbean community in the United Kingdom.
WHYTo prevent those with dementia from being inappropriately treated due to lack of information and dementia awareness and to prevent dementia carers from suffering in silence with a lack of support.

Program Description

Culture Dementia UK exists to fill the gap in dementia care services specifically for the African/Caribbean Community.         

Culture Dementia UK aims to help those with dementia and their carers by:          

-Dispelling myths and stigma surrounding Dementia
-Upholding the dignity of those with dementia
-Educating and support dementia carers in the African/Caribbean communities on causes of dementia, and hold dementia lectures
-Providing dementia carer counseling and respite
-Making in-home visits and visits to care homes to speak to with those with dementia
-Advocating for those with dementia

‘Culture Dementia UK’ also offers cultural specific dementia home care services providing referrals to medical, nursing and therapeutic care along with dementia carers who can help with the activities of every day life such light housework, shopping, personal hygiene etc.

‘Culture Dementia UK’ is able to provide professional care referrals based on British, West Indian, African, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese or Eastern European cultures.
