"BENEFITS CHECKUP" PROGRAM

WHAT Government internet system that helps seniors see if they are eligible to receive assistance with health insurance benefits and other benefits from federal, state and local programs. Other senior benefits may include prescription savings, senior income supplements, senior housing, senior in-home care, senior employment training, tax relief, senior transportation
WHYTo assist senior citizens with with imited incomes who are eligible for but not receiving benefits to pay for prescription drugs, health care, utilities and other basic needs.

Program Description


"Seniors can find more than 2,000 federal, state, and local benefits programs to help with the cost of health care, prescription drugs, food, housing, utility bills and more."

-Benefits Checkup

The "Benefits CheckUp" Program helps seniors with how and where they can receive benefits. Seniors are able to see if they are entitled to receive government benefits by visiting the Benefits CheckUp website and typing in basic personal information, including a zip code, after which a list of benefit programs is generated in their area that offer assistance.

Senior health benefits and other benefits are available ranging from heating and energy benefits to senior prescription savings, senior income supplements, senior housing, senior in-home care, senior employment training, tax relief, senior transportation and much more.

Assistance is available for senior benefits such as:

Comprehensive Benefits Assistance: Programs that can help seniors pay for prescription drugs, health care, meals, utility bills, and more.

Prescription Drug Assistance: Programs that can help seniors reduce your prescription drug and other health care costs.

Medicare Rx Extra Help: Tests your eligiblity for extra help to pay for your Medicare prescription drug costs.

My Medicare Matters:
Easy-to-understand information about Medicare's prescription drug coverage (Part D) and abouut services Medicare pays to keep seniors healthy.

Senior Housing Locator: Find senior housing options, including assisted living, residential care, nursing & rehabilitation homes, CCRCs and independent living retirement communities.
"The Senior Housing Locator Program" is administered by SNAP for Seniors.

The National Council on Aging's mission is to improve the lives of older adults who are vulnerable and disadvantaged and also to provide a national voice for older Americans and the community organizations that serve them. They work with organizations across the United States to help find jobs for seniors, senior benefits, and improved health, so that they seniors can live independently, and remain active in their communities.
