Program Description
“Residents in the various Victorian Senior Care communities smiled for pictures while holding signs with their names and interests. Staff then shared the images on Facebook with the address of where to send the letters. From sports to gardening to music, these seniors' interests can be matched with anyone.”
“Since this program started last week, mail and packages for residents have been received from all over the world including Germany, countries in Africa and New Zealand.”

Older adults request which topics of interest they would like to discuss with a prospective pen pal by holding up a written sign. A photo of themselves and the sign is then posted on the program’s Facebook page and a match is made through the nursing home.
Pen Pals can send letters of support and care packages to seniors and brighten up their day.
The program has been met with overwhelming response with people eager to help the elderly feel less lonely and isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
