The University of the Third Age provides retirees with educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment. Group activities are organized for members based on interest so that they can share knowledge, skills and experience, and learn from one another.
The University of the Third Age has local charities across the United Kingdom each run independently and with the help of volunteers.
Courses are embarked on for the purpose of life-long learning without a curriculum or the purpose of gaining accreditation or qualification.
The Third Age Trust represents all U3As in the United Kingdom.
Older adults who are interested in starting their own chapter of The University of the Third Age can contact the organization for assistance and resources such as:
- A series of booklets on starting a new U3A, principles, committee procedure.
- Publicity materials including posters, leaflets, bookmarks.
- A network of people who will be able to assist in starting a new U3A.
- A model constitution.
- Free temporary membership of the Trust for with liability insurance cover.
- A small Start-up grant.
- The services of U3A Development Officers.
The University of the Third Age also offers online courses for older adults who are not able to attend meetings in person due to restricted mobility, disability, and other reasons.Senior Activities
