"Geezer Gallery is intended to be provocative. We want to provoke conversation and new ways of thinking about what it means to be an aging or 'older' person in today's world. We encourage people of all ages to engage in a dialogue about what a 'geezer' is or can be."
"We artists have not packed away our palettes. We are continuing to be or just now becoming known in the community. We feel good knowing that the sale of our art is helping us continue to earn a living… help support art programs in senior communities, giving other seniors the opportunity to explore creative artistic expression that fosters personal creativity and enhances social connections."
Artwork by older adults at the gallery includes: paintings in mixed media, oil, printmaking and watercolor, collage, prints, sculpture, photography, furniture, jewelry, ceramics and more.
The gallery also sets up travelling art exhibits at retirement communities or at local businesses for the public to enjoy.
The Geezer Gallery campaign aims to raise $15,000 to help support senior artists and art therapy programs.
