Across the USA.

Program Description

“While nothing replaces in-person visits with family members and friends, residents and staff would benefit greatly from knowing individuals from around the country were thinking about them and offering their support.”

Messages of support for seniors can be posted on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #CareNotCOVID and tagged with both @AHCANCAL and the name of the nursing home or assisted living facility.

Video messages for older adults can be easily recorded by visiting CareNotCovid

If you would like to help the elderly the CareNotCovid Campaign also has nursing home donation ideas some of which will help older adults connect with loved ones and stay engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Helpful donations for older adults include:

  • Electronic Devices - tablets, laptops, e-readers, portable music devices.
  • Activity Materials - puzzles, board games, books, craft supplies.

Helpful donations for nursing home staff and caregivers include items such as:

  • Hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol-based)
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Bandanas
  • Aprons
  • Cleaning gloves

The American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) advocate for quality care and services for frail, elderly and disabled Americans in over 14,000 nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other long term care facilities.
