Trained volunteers help seniors by providing free garden clearance work.
Older people who previously tended to their gardens may no longer be able to do so due to poor health or reduced mobility.
The program helps keep older people safe by preventing trips and falls in an unkempt garden. The free service also can help prevent injuries from older adults attempting to tend to difficult tasks in their own gardens. Unkempt gardens may also attract burglars or scam artist if they suspect a vulnerable individual lives in the home.
Groundwork works to bring communities, businesses and government together to improve quality of life and promote sustainable development in run-down and neglected locations.
