The affordable permanent housing building for formerly homeless older adults and veterans is made of prefabricated individual modular units each equipped with a personal kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living area.
Senior residents have access to a rooftop deck, a fitness center, patios, and a community room.
The Weingart Center provides support service to homeless older adults designed to break the cycle of homelessness.
Support services for homeless older adults and older veterans include:
- Case Management
- Referrals to employment services
- Referrals to primary and specialty healthcare, vision, dental care, mental health, and substance use assistance.
- HIV/AIDS care
- Legal and benefit assistance
- Savings program
- Transportation assistance
- Mail services
- Individual and group counseling
Individuals or organizations looking for ways to help the homeless elderly in Los Angeles can do so through the Weingart Warrior program. The program encourages people to fundraise and donate towards the Weingart Center’s homeless housing programs and services and to spread the word about homelessness. Donations towards a Welcome Home Kit for the homeless is available for purchase which includes bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom essentials along with personal care supplies for new residents.
In addition to serving older adults and veterans, the Weingart Center also provides bridge and permanent housing solutions along with homelessness services to other economically disadvantaged populations in the Los Angeles area.
