Program Description
“Wheelchair ramp builds require trained leads and consist of 4 – 10 volunteers. New teams are needed! Complete our group application to get started. Teams provide their own tools for all builds. Enable Madison County provides materials through donated funds.”
“Wheelchair ramp repairs are great for smaller teams of 2-4 volunteers. Team should consist of a trained lead along with a few other volunteers. ”
“Volunteers make it possible to install wheelchair ramps in homes across Madison County for individuals unable to leave their homes allowing them to remain safe and independent in their own homes. ”

Free ramps installed for seniors follow the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.
Free senior services are provided through the help of volunteers and Enable staff. To qualify for free wheelchair ramps and home modifications seniors must be age 60 or older and or homebound. For more qualifying information visit the Enable website.
In addition to installing free wheelchair ramps, Enable of Alabama also provides senior home modification services such as ramp repairs, installation of grab bars, installing oversized steps along with transportation and telephone check in calls.
The TEMP$ Weatherization program is an annual one day event that brings together Madison County volunteers to offer free weather proof services to the homes of older adults including placing plastic on windows, insulating pipes, caulking breaches, installing smoke detectors, replacing storm doors and performing other small repairs.
