Medi‑Cal eligible individuals may receive free (up to $1,800 a year) in covered dental care services as part of the Medi‑Cal program.
Older adults are more susceptible to oral health problems as they age including tooth decay, gum disease, tooth loss and receding gums resulting in pain and discomfort.
The Medi‑Cal Dental Program provides the following free or low-cost services for seniors:
• Dental exams (every 12 months)
• X-rays
• Teeth cleaning (every 12 months)
• Scaling and root planing
• Fluoride varnish (every 12 months)
• Fillings
• Crowns may be covered in some cases
• Root canals
• Partial and full dentures
• Denture relines
• Tooth removal
• Emergency services
Seniors may also be able to get free rides and transportation assistance to dental appointment by calling the Medi‑Cal Dental service center at 1-800-322-6384.
Eligible seniors can find free or low-cost dentist and dental care and services by visiting SmileCalifornia.org to find a dentist that accepts Medi‑Cal.
