The Whitney Museum offers the following types of senior art activity programs:

A four week mini program: includes an introductory art slide talk and discussion at a senior center, a tour of the Whitney Museum, and two hands-on art-making sessions where seniors complete projects based on the theme of a given exhibition.

A seven week program: allows seniors to explore their personal history through collage-making and its application in twentieth-century American art. Lectures and art-making at the senior centers are be integrated with a museum visit.

Each of the above programs concludes with a celebration at the museum where senior artwork is displayed and seniors can discuss their experiences.

90 minute workshops are also available for seniors to participate in a slideshow discussion and an art-making project at their senior centers. Seniors explore photography, printmaking, abstract art, and engaging in art activities from using everyday materials.

The Whitney Museum also manages the:

Art Teleconference to Home-Bound Elderly Program - an opportunity for home-bound elderly to receive a glossy package of art work from the museum’s exhibitions and call in to access the accompanying lecture through a teleconferencing system.
