Program Description

“An innovative new language exchange program is helping Brazilian students practice their English while brightening up the often solitary lives of elderly American retirees.”
-dailymail.co.uk

“It's such a great, simple idea: Young Brazilians want to learn English. Elderly Americans living in retirement homes just want someone to talk to. Why not connect them?”
- adweek.com ”

The Speaking Exchange project was started at the CNA language school in Liberdade, Brazil where students were paired with older adults at Windsor Park Retirement Community in Chicago.

CNA language schools were searching for a way to make learning English more realistic with a human touch. The connection to native English speakers in a retirement community was one solution.

During video chats ESL students and older adults can discuss a range of topics such as  families, hobbies, life experiences and more.
