“NYANYA PROJECT” PROGRAM

WHAT Empowers African grandmothers to keep their grandchildren together as a result of AIDS devastation by putting together working cooperatives that generate income and provide training to care for HIV-infected family members.
WHYAllows grandmothers to become independent and ensures continued care for their families.
WHEREMary Martin Niepold – President/Chairman Funding from Blessing Project – Founder, Beverly Johnston Kenya and Tanzania, Africa.

Program Description

Income generated by the cooperatives is used to provide healthcare, education and a home for grandchildren who may have otherwise become orphans.

African grandmothers become grandparents as parents role models for other women in their communities.

The Nyanya Project organizes grandmothers into cooperatives that ensure their long-term economic sustainability by generating, managing and reinvesting income, distributing funds for the women's immediate needs and setting an example of leadership for younger women in their villages and neighborhoods.
